UFO circles Hebden Bridge at 3am - local schoolteacher says it woke her up

WAS IT a bird, was it a plane, or a twin-engined chinook?

Either way something was circling Hebden Bridge in the early hours of the morning and it has left residents scratching their heads. The UFO circled the town in a slow 10 minute loop at around 3am and was said to be so loud it pulled people from their beds.

Sarah Smith, Hebden Bridge resident and a teacher at Warley Road Primary School, said: "It woke me up it was so loud but the sky was very cloudy and I couldn't really make out what all the racket was.

"It sounded like some sort of Chinook but I could only really see its light and not much else.

"It was rumbling and rattling but there was no searchlight coming off it.

"It was all really weird to see, especially at that time in the morning."

Calderdale police say they were not undertaking any helicopter searches in the area on the night of July 9 nor were the armed forces. A Ministry of Defence spokesperson, said: "There was no flying activity by us that night in the north of England - it's a mystery to us."

There has been a recent spate of UFO sightings across Britain, with 22 in the past month alone. But it is the first time recently something unexplained has been spotted in Calderdale's skies. Among the sightings include soldiers seeing 13 objects above their barracks at Tern Hill, Shropshire and a police helicopter reporting a close encounter with a UFO near Cardiff.
