DID you spot something mysterious in the skies above Abertillery on Monday, June 30?

Less than a fortnight after reports surfaced about South Wales Police pursuing a “flying-saucer shaped” aircraft, after it zoomed over St Athan Ministry of Defence base in the Vale of Glamorgan, the Gazette received a phone call from an Abertillery man claiming to have spotted a UFO.

The man, who did not wish to be named, said he was amazed to see an unexplainable flashing craft in the sky above his Gladstone Street home.

He said: “About 12 o’clock I was dozing on the chair when my wife woke me up saying to come and have a look at something. So I got up and we could see this thing that looked like a spinning top flying really low. in the sky.

“It was like a carousel with orange and white lights. It wasn’t a helicopter or a plane.”

Before he had a chance to capture the craft on camera it flew over the mountain in the direction of Ebbw Vale.
