Colchester: Family look to the skies for answers

A FAMILY is looking for answers after they said they spotted "six orange balls of light" flying near Colchester.

Angela Fletcher and her 12-year-old son Ben Parsons, of Hickory Avenue, Greenstead, were visiting friends for a bonfire in Chappel, near the railway line, when they claimed they had a close encounter of the third kind.

Mrs Fletcher said she saw the unidentified flying objects (UFOs) fly over them silently, and when she looked it up on the internet, she found out that orange objects had been spotted moving silently across the skies above Norwich this time last year.

More recent activity on Colchester.

Looking north out of my bedroom window over Severalls Hospital on Friday night/Saturday morning (11 Oct 08), it was very clear yet dark - there was no moon lighting up the sky and a number of stars were visible.

I noticed three 'stars' that were burning with flickering of colours but which were also moving in random directions and speeds. One of the lights in particular was very active.

The brightest of the lights over to the west appeared to grow and to flicker strongly, then what appeared to be electricity arcs appeared around the ball, which was was now stationary. The arcing was a blue colour and when this was happening there seemed to be very small particles being sucked into the ball from every direction. This happened for a few minutes, then the arcing stopped and the ball started to float upwards.

Once the ball was high, there was a milky shimmering saucer shape a short distance below the ball, moving at a consistent rate with the ball. It was like an energy field cupping the ball and following on.

Then the ball slowed to almost standstill and there were thin red/orange lines streaking down from around the ball at approx. angles of 35/40 degrees from vertical. This gave me the impression that the ball was firing particles back down to earth. This stopped after a minute, the ball moved diagonally upward a short way, then this happened again for a short while.

The ball then rose quickly and very soon it looked just like another star in the sky and was lost to my vision.

The other two balls remained in the sky, but I saw no curious activity other then the random movements, firstly parallel to the earth, the immediately changing direction 180 degrees to go the opposite way without stopping, then diagonally up then darting off to the left faster than my eye could follow. Every now and again the ball would flicker, taking on the appearance of it rotating quickly with a flare of colour.

The ball high and to the east of my position was less easier to watch and all I noticed was the random movement and pulsing colours.

Throughout, there was no noise whatsoever. All I could hear was the periodic passing of a solitary car on the nearby A12.

Strange ey?

Did anyone else see it?

December 13th 12:45 sat/sun night - Tiptree, was driving back from friends in colchester, when i spotted 6 orange lights moving across the sky, not all together - well except for two that seem to be flying together.

Then one of the two vanished, while the other stayed in one place.. then more came past.

they where all very fast, but completely silent.

did anyone else see them?
