Prom sparks UFO mystery

Source

PROM princesses sparked a UFO mystery this week.

Strange bright lights in the Horsham night sky dazzled onlookers and sparked extraterrestrial conspiracies in the early hours of Saturday morning (July 5).But the fleet of twinkling air crafts turned out to be a flock of Chinese lanterns released by teenagers at Christ's Hospital School's leavers' party.

Lorry driver Steve Hayles was amongst the Horsham district residents bewildered by the floating burning balls.

The lanterns caught the Royal Mail HGV driver's eye while he was driving round Broadbridge Heath roundabout on his way home from a night shift at 1am: "I had to drive round the roundabout twice in my lorry because I just couldn't work out what they were," he said. The Broadbridge Heath dad of two thought the slow moving unidentified objects were helicopters but his curiosity was pricked when he noticed they had no navigation lights

The aliens are here!

AN UNIDENTIFIED flying object has been spotted moving suspiciously in the Middleton sky.

According to a national newspaper, a blue and white cube was seen "rotating randomly" by worried residents.

The weird sighting comes as dozens of reports of unidentified flying objects moving above the streets of Britain have flooded in.

In the last few weeks soldiers and police officers have also reported close encounters with unusual objects in different parts of the UK.

Shapes of all sizes, colour and brightness have been spotted at night in various locations and experts are baffled as to whether aliens really are visiting our planet, or the bizarre sightings can be put down to natural phenomena.

UFO expert Malcolm Robinson said: "This one in Middleton is one of the many strange sightings that have been reported in the British skies over the last several months.

"It's when you look down all the corridors, like speaking to police and finding out if there was any aircraft activity that night, and you can't find a rational explanation that you realise that something very bizarre is happening."

Mr Robinson, who runs his own company called Strange Phenomena Investigations, added that 95 per cent of sightings can be logically explained - but it's the other five per cent that need investigating further.

"Some experts believe it could be linked to global warming and craft from outer space are appearing because they are concerned about what man is doing to our planet," he said.

The strange blue and white cube floating above Middleton was spotted on 15 June. Although no report has been made to the local police.

The Ministry of Defence recently announced it was opening secret files on UFO encounters dating back over the last 30 years which reveal details of hundreds of mysterious sightings – from large golden stationary orbs to silver discs moving at rapid speeds.

But whether you believe little green men from outer space are visiting Earth – or think there is a more rational explanation, these ‘sightings’ seem to be becoming more frequent. Although one UFO spotter was left red-faced after his report of a mysterious flying saucer in South Wales turned out to be nothing more other-worldly than the moon.

UFO captured on camera in North Tyneside

Source

ONE man is claiming to have captured an image of a UFO over the borough coast.

IT manager Paul Robson, from Newcastle, was visiting Tynemouth when he apparently caught an unidentified flying object near an Emirates aeroplane on his own digital camera.

The photograph, which shows a 'flying saucer' shaped object on the right hand side, was taken at Tynemouth Long Sands at around 1pm on Saturday, June 28.Mr Robson told the News Guardian:

"It was taken on my four meg digital camera.

"I was there with my wife and kids – just near the church of St George's on the seafront.

"I was testing my camera's battery and took a shot of the Emirates flight from Dubai into Newcastle.

"Looking at the photos the following day I noticed a shadow north east of the plane – and when I zoomed it looked like a flying saucer shape."

Mr Robson said that the photo has not been doctored and he can't recall seeing the object when he took the photograph."Needless to say, I've taken a bit of stick at work for this," he added.

A local freelance photographer from North Tyneside, John Millard, said he was sceptical, and believed the unidentified object could have been a fault with the camera or, most likely, a speck of dirt in the lens.

"I think he needs his lens cleaned," he said.

UFO circles Hebden Bridge at 3am - local schoolteacher says it woke her up

Source

WAS IT a bird, was it a plane, or a twin-engined chinook?

Either way something was circling Hebden Bridge in the early hours of the morning and it has left residents scratching their heads. The UFO circled the town in a slow 10 minute loop at around 3am and was said to be so loud it pulled people from their beds.

Sarah Smith, Hebden Bridge resident and a teacher at Warley Road Primary School, said: "It woke me up it was so loud but the sky was very cloudy and I couldn't really make out what all the racket was.

"It sounded like some sort of Chinook but I could only really see its light and not much else.

"It was rumbling and rattling but there was no searchlight coming off it.

"It was all really weird to see, especially at that time in the morning."

Calderdale police say they were not undertaking any helicopter searches in the area on the night of July 9 nor were the armed forces. A Ministry of Defence spokesperson, said: "There was no flying activity by us that night in the north of England - it's a mystery to us."

There has been a recent spate of UFO sightings across Britain, with 22 in the past month alone. But it is the first time recently something unexplained has been spotted in Calderdale's skies. Among the sightings include soldiers seeing 13 objects above their barracks at Tern Hill, Shropshire and a police helicopter reporting a close encounter with a UFO near Cardiff.

UFO Expert Admits Islington Video Could Be Aliens

Source

VIDEO footage of a mysterious triangle of lights hovering in the night skies above Islington has been verified by a UFO expert - who believes it could be an extra-terrestrial spaceship.

Paul Southcott, a member of the UFO Supernatural Study Group, has told the Gazette he is "90 per cent sure" that spooky footage of a trio of bright orbs moving above the Chapel Market area is genuine.

The startling video was shot at 9.30pm by a 45-year-old mother-of-two from her second-floor home off Essex Road in April 2004.

Two weeks later she filmed a larger unidentified orb that appeared in exactly the same position at the same time of day.

The woman, who does not want her identity to be revealed, has not shown the footage until now for fear of being branded a hoaxer.

She said: "It was like a blob in the sky above the trees. I'm a 100 million per cent sure it was a UFO because it was like a big orb darting about like a lunatic. I zoomed in on it and it looked like a big ball of cells, like they would look if you saw them through a microscope.

"I wasn't scared at all because I was so fascinated. I stayed up all night afterwards looking at the footage. It was so exciting and I've been wondering what to do with it ever since. It was only when I looked at other UFOs on the internet that I realised it was exactly the same as all those other sightings."

Mr Southcott, of New North Road, Islington, an avid follower of UFO and supernatural sightings since he was a child, visited the woman's home with the Gazette to see for the two films for himself. He said: "A lot of people feel a bit weird after a sighting like this. There's no way this is a reflection from a lamp or Chinese lanterns. This is what we call an amber ball - it's always associated with a triangle.

There was one above Pentonville Road in 1996 when nine of them all went into the one ball."I've not seen anything like that before. It's impressive."

Mr Southcott believes the lights, captured on film on a clear and starry night, could be the outline of a spaceship. There appear to be no stars visible within the triangle, which slowly changes angles as if turning on its axis.He said: "A triangle one minute and a line the next minute - I can't see the planets coming out of line to do that, can you?

"We've got stars around it but in the middle there's nothing."

It could be a Tesco bag, but until it lands it's unidentified. It's strange. I'm 90 per cent sure it's something."

The woman - who contacted the Gazette after we uncovered a lost UFO sighting last month - has since had dreams about a UFO invasion.

She said: "I'm relieved that someone like Paul who's got a bit of expertise about it thinks it's genuine. I wrote to the Ministry of Defence but they didn't want to know. It's been driving me a bit mad from time to time. I'll leave it for months on end - and then I think let's get it out and look at it again."

Mr Southcott, who is planning to have the video cleaned up and authenticated, added: "[The MOD] can get away with it being anything they want. They have called the RAF out in the past - I'm surprised something this big didn't attract a helicopter at least. People want answers but nobody gives them to them."Judge for yourself - watch the UFO video now on the Gazette homepage!

More south Norfolk UFO sightings reported

Source

Several people have responded to the sighting of a UFO over a south Norfolk village.

The original sighting was over Garboldisham but another Diss Express reader has been in touch to say a mystery object was also sighted between Diss and East Harling earlier that evening, while Tony Sandy, who now lives in Scotland has recalled his 1966 sighting in Diss.

A Garboldisham resident was walking his dog on the
village's playing fields when the sighting was made.

The man reported seeing a large yellow beam of light that shot across the sky repeatedly for about ten minutes at about 12.30am on Saturday.

He said: "There's no doubt about what I spotted."

I frequently walk my dog at night, but this is the first time I have ever seen anything like that."

It wasn't a plane or anything, it was definitely a UFO – I got quite scared."

Garboldisham is midway between Diss and Thetford on the Norfolk-Suffolk border and the sighting is not the first in the area, with
Suffolk named a UFO hotspot earlier this year.

A MYSTERY UFO was spotted in the sky heading towards Gatwick Airport on Saturday night.

The Parker family from Mutton Hall Hill said they saw an object which looked like a ball of flames.

It appeared to be taking the usual flight path of planes coming in northwards from the continent towards Gatwick or Heathrow.

But it suddenly veered off to the east before going out of sight.Karl Parker said:

'It could have been a military flare of some sort as it appeared to go with the prevailing wind.'

Did YOU spot the UFO flying above Abertillery?

DID you spot something mysterious in the skies above Abertillery on Monday, June 30?

Less than a fortnight after reports surfaced about South Wales Police pursuing a “flying-saucer shaped” aircraft, after it zoomed over St Athan Ministry of Defence base in the Vale of Glamorgan, the Gazette received a phone call from an Abertillery man claiming to have spotted a UFO.

The man, who did not wish to be named, said he was amazed to see an unexplainable flashing craft in the sky above his Gladstone Street home.

He said: “About 12 o’clock I was dozing on the chair when my wife woke me up saying to come and have a look at something. So I got up and we could see this thing that looked like a spinning top flying really low. in the sky.

“It was like a carousel with orange and white lights. It wasn’t a helicopter or a plane.”

Before he had a chance to capture the craft on camera it flew over the mountain in the direction of Ebbw Vale.

If you spotted this mystery object or anything unusual in the Blaenau Gwent skies contact the Gwent Gazette on 01495 304589 or by e-mail on gwent.gazette@mediawales.co.uk.

More sightings of Hounslow UFO

Source

The mystery around a UFO seen swooping through Bedfont skies on Sunday deepens as more people contact us with similar strange stories.

Yesterday Bedfont gran Lynne Martin, of Beech Road, appealed for fellow witnesses after spotting a trio of mysterious lights 'swooping and merging' in the skies above her home at 11pm on Sunday night.

Within minutes Isleworth mum Kimberley Eliadef contacted us, adamant she saw something she could not explain in the night sky on Sunday.

"My neighbour thinks we're all barmy," she said. "But four of us saw itand so did two dog walkers I met in the park. There were threedisk-like lights following each other and moving away, then meeting inthe middle."

Ms Eliadef, of Tolson Road, was so intrigued she contacted TwickenhamStadium to check they were not responsible. But a spokesman insistedthey had no major events or lighting checks scheduled on Sunday.

Hounslow resident Harmeet Sethi also spotted the unidentified objectsflying through the air and was so alarmed he contacted the police.

"I saw them with my friend," said Mr Sethi, of the Great West Road. "We checked to see what it was but couldn't find anything and the policeweren't interested.

"I tried to take a picture but it wouldn't come out on my camera phone. I just don't know what they could have been.

"A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Defence said she was 'not aware' miltary operations going on in the area at the time of the sightings. She said: "The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity. "If required, sighting reports are examined with the assistance of the Department's air defence experts. Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported."

A spokeswoman for NATs, the main air traffic controller for Heathrow, said: "There was't any unusual activity at that time of evening."

UFO sighting in Southport during twister mayhem

Source

A UFO was captured on camera as a Southport nature enthusiast snapped away at Sunday’s twister.

Father-of-four Pat Regan, 51, of Sandbrook Road, was shocked when he looked at his pictures and noticed the unidentified object to the left of the funnel cloud.

Mr Regan, who runs child care facilities in Formby, was fishing in Rufford Canal with his seven-year-old daughter Jasmine when the twister started.

He said: “I was clinging to a railway bridge holding my camera. “I thought the object might have been a police helicopter but when it’s close up , it doesn’t look like one. “I’m sceptical about these things but open minded. It’s an oval shape and I would like to know what it is.”

Man tells how he was abducted by UFO

Source

FOLLOWING our story on UFO sightings, one reader has contacted Your Vale to share his own close encounter.

Ernie Edwards speaking in his first newspaper interview, says he was walking home from work towards Cyffylliog in 1970 when he was met with a circular flying object, which then went on to abduct him.

"It was a lovely moonlit night, and as I looked up, I saw this very bright scarlet light, which became a massive round object with a pulsating light which was only about 50 yards away from me. It looked cigar-shaped to start with, and then changed shape," said Ernie, who now lives in Prestatyn.

"Obviously I knew it was a flying saucer when it changed shape. I was terrified on the spot. It turned on its side and shot off towards a house, and hovered above it."

Ernie, who works as a driver for nursing homes, also described his apparent abduction by the craft and – although he has no memory of how he came aboard – being examined by what he describes as "tall, grey beings".

"The craft appeared to me as an oval-shaped room at the time, where I was laid on a metallic table, as I were in a hospital," said Ernie.

"The beings spoke through their minds to me, telepathically and in a very strange, very fast sort of gibberish. I was just staring at their eyes.

"A couple of days after that experience I came out in a rash, from head to toe. I honestly believe that I had some sort of radiation rash after meeting people not strictly of this world."

Despite the other-worldly nature of his strange meeting, Ernie doesn’t necessarily believe these visitors to the Vale were necessarily from another planet.

"It could have been the government testing aircraft of the future, but then again, it could have been visitors from another planet. Until people actually see one themselves and have the experience I did back in 1970, they won’t be able to see for themselves," he said.

"With all the sightings in the area recently people should be aware that these things definitely exist. I would never want anything like what happened to me on that day in 1970 to happen to anyone else."

Flintshire readers report more UFO sightings

REPORTS of mysterious objects appearing the region's skies have continued to come in.

Keen photographer Peter Jones, of Connah's Quay, believes that he has snapped scores of pictures of UFOs across North Wales while enjoying his hobby.Peter says that many of his friends have tried to explain the strange shots away by saying that they must have been caused by something on his camera lens, but he remains convinced that they are evidence of something more mysterious.

He said: "I enjoy taking pictures of skylines and I have a few different cameras. When I got out taking pictures, I always take a few different shots with all of them."I have lots of photos with objects like this in them and they are all taken at different times and locations, using different cameras, so it can't possibly be something on the lens."

The strangest thing is that you cannot see these objects with the naked eye, but they show up on the pictures and are even reflected in the water in some shots.

"It is very unnerving, as I have no idea what they are and it makes me wonder if we are being watched. I know that most people think it is a mad theory and that it can be explained away, but I know what I saw."Another amateur photographer, who did not wish to be named, snapped some unexplained objects in the sky above Holywell.

He said: "I have no idea what they were, but I have seen them and photographed them on a few occasions, all at around the same time of night. They really are weird."

The first of a string of UFO sightings, described as 'orange fireballs', was reported in Mynydd Isa on Christmas Day last year. During the first few weeks of 2008, the Leader received a flood of reports from residents across the county and even as far afield as America reporting similar experiences.

Yet more sightings were reported last month, prompting speculation and debate from scores of cynics and believers. To report a sighting or have your say on whether you think Peter's photograph is genuine, email

Mystery of Caversham ‘UFO’ light

Source

Reading appears to be a hotspot for UFO sightings after another unidentified object was spotted in the skies of Caversham.

Louise Davis, 26, of Managua Close, was awoken in the early hours of last Wednesday by “a steady engine sound”.

The mum-of-two leapt out of bed at 1.20am before frantically searching around the house looking for the ‘sauce-r’ the noise.

She said: “I was woken up by a funny noise, which I found strange as I can sleep through anything and I was in a deep sleep.

“After searching around the house I looked outside my window and saw a bright green light in the distance.

“The bold round block of light was really green to my eyes, and it sounded as if it was hovering over and area for a while. I thought it might have been a police helicopter.”

Reading police spokeswoman Andrea Bennett said: “The Thames Valley Police helicopter was not patrolling in the area at the time, but there may have been a helicopter from other police forces.”

As reported in the Evening Post on Friday, May 16, Caversham is an alien hot spot according to files released by the Ministry of Defence.

Michael Soper, who is in his 60s, has been investigating flying saucers for years with the group Contact International UFO Research.

If you have seen any extra-terrestrial activity, contact Mr Soper on

UFO mystery: More sightings over Harborough

Source

A FLYING saucer and a snake-like trail of red lights have been spotted by Mail readers looking to the skies since last week's UFO mystery.

The Mail last week featured office worker Rachael Berry, who saw a shiny, metallic looking ball moving above fields near the Brampton Valley Way on Wednesday, June 25.

She appealed for anyone who saw anything similar to come forward, prompting readers to contact us with their own sightings.

Jessica Ingram and her friend William Turner, of Rainsborough Gardens, were walking home across fields behind Harborough Leisure Centre at about 10.45pm on Friday when they saw a saucer-shaped object hovering and moving in circles above the town's golf club. Jessica (16) said: "It was quite large and we could clearly see it even though we were stood very far away. It was high and was in the clouds, we could see it by its lights. It appeared grey, but that could have been the mist. The lights were yellow. "We could see it for at least ten minutes. It kept circling over the golf course, disappearing behind trees and then becoming visible again. We were very far away so we sometimes lost sight of it but then it circled back into view again."

Caroline Marriott also contacted the Mail after she saw a trail of red lights in the sky from the window of her flat in Welland Court, Harborough, on Monday last week (June 30). "They were lined up so they looked like a plane," she said. "As it got closer I saw it was two lots of lights. Then they started to move really quickly and I thought there was going to be a crash. They sort of 'snaked' along. I was waiting for a loud bang but they appeared to go between the flats. I couldn't believe it."

More evidence of aliens in county?

Another Shropshire resident has come forward with what could be more footage of aliens in the skies over our county.

Candice Taylor, from Brookside in Telford, shot her video of an object in the night sky over her home last week.

The latest footage is just one of many sightings in recent weeks as debate grows over the origins of numerous mysterious objects.

So what could they be?

Take a look at our video to find out.

UFOs in Southall?

Ealing Times

TWO Southall residents have reported seeing strange lights in the sky at around midnight last night.
Both sightings are reported from about midnight in the Old Southall area.

One person has reported to the Ealing Times they saw three bright lights in the sky above their garden.

A bright light shot out from the formation after about 30 minutes, then the three UFOs formed a triangle and disappeared.

The second witness claims to have seen five or six lights in the sky, circling anti-clockwise near the Southall gas tower, joining into one then breaking apart again.

Again, the witness says a bright light shot out from the formation, before the lights disappeared.

Both claim other witnesses from the area saw the same sight.

Did you see the mysterious objects? Do you have any pictures of the formations? If so send them to ahayes@london.newsquest.co.uk.

'UFOs' spotted in Cheam

Residents have been left baffled after witnessing "creepy" lights circle above their homes for hours last night.

Barbara Goatham, 51, of Colborne Way, North Cheam, was first alerted to the odd lights hovering above her house by her husband and son.

"My son and husband came in from the pub at 11.30pm and told me to have a look," she said. "My son's a bit of a drama queen but my husband is very straight down the line so I went to have a look.

"There were three or four green orbs. It was like the Northen Lights but with precision. They would move together and converge and were individuals because they were moving themselves.

"It was awe inspiring - my mouth was hanging open. My first thought was that it was a Northen Lights phenomenon but the movements were so precise.

"They were very creepy and there wasn't a sound. I got the creeps and came back in and shut the curtains.

"I'm not a drinker, it was definitely there," she added.

Hundreds of residents were left puzzled last summer when Chinese lanterns were released in West Ewell at a wedding reception. The wind carried the orange glowing lights for miles, with some travelling as far as Worcester Park and Epsom.

Colchester: Family look to the skies for answers

A FAMILY is looking for answers after they said they spotted "six orange balls of light" flying near Colchester.

Angela Fletcher and her 12-year-old son Ben Parsons, of Hickory Avenue, Greenstead, were visiting friends for a bonfire in Chappel, near the railway line, when they claimed they had a close encounter of the third kind.

Mrs Fletcher said she saw the unidentified flying objects (UFOs) fly over them silently, and when she looked it up on the internet, she found out that orange objects had been spotted moving silently across the skies above Norwich this time last year.

British UFO sightings at 'bizarre' levels

The Daily Telegraph 7th. July 08

Whether alien activity or natural phenomena, reports of UFOs have flooded in this summer from across the country.

Plotted on a map of Britain, the sightings can be seen to stretch from Liverpool to Dover and from Llanelli to Derby.

Whatever the explanation, experts agree that the number of suspected flying saucers has hit unusual highs this summer.

Malcolm Robinson, who studies the phenomenon, said: "Something very bizarre is happening in the skies over the UK."

The founder member of Strange Phenomena Investigations, added: "There has been an unusual number of sightings recently.

"Some experts believe it could be linked to global warming and craft from outer space are appearing because they are concerned about what man is doing to this planet."

Among mysterious flying objects spotted in recent months was a 'glowing' disc spotted above the M5 motorway.

Royal Navy aircraft engineer Michael Madden said he watched the UFO for three minutes before it 'zoomed off' near Weston-super-Mare in Somerset.

Earlier, in Basingstoke, witnesses claimed to have seen a fleet of 12 orange objects in the night sky for half an hour.

And in St Athan in the Vale of Glamorgan a police helicopter crew gave chase to another UFO after it appeared to veer at speed towards their aircraft.

One UFO spotter however was left red-faced after his report of a mysterious flying saucer in South Wales turned out to be nothing more other-worldly than the moon.
