AN UNIDENTIFIED flying object has been spotted moving suspiciously in the Middleton sky.
According to a national newspaper, a blue and white cube was seen "rotating randomly" by worried residents.
The weird sighting comes as dozens of reports of unidentified flying objects moving above the streets of Britain have flooded in.
In the last few weeks soldiers and police officers have also reported close encounters with unusual objects in different parts of the UK.
Shapes of all sizes, colour and brightness have been spotted at night in various locations and experts are baffled as to whether aliens really are visiting our planet, or the bizarre sightings can be put down to natural phenomena.
UFO expert Malcolm Robinson said: "This one in Middleton is one of the many strange sightings that have been reported in the British skies over the last several months.
"It's when you look down all the corridors, like speaking to police and finding out if there was any aircraft activity that night, and you can't find a rational explanation that you realise that something very bizarre is happening."
Mr Robinson, who runs his own company called Strange Phenomena Investigations, added that 95 per cent of sightings can be logically explained - but it's the other five per cent that need investigating further.
"Some experts believe it could be linked to global warming and craft from outer space are appearing because they are concerned about what man is doing to our planet," he said.
The strange blue and white cube floating above Middleton was spotted on 15 June. Although no report has been made to the local police.
The Ministry of Defence recently announced it was opening secret files on UFO encounters dating back over the last 30 years which reveal details of hundreds of mysterious sightings – from large golden stationary orbs to silver discs moving at rapid speeds.
But whether you believe little green men from outer space are visiting Earth – or think there is a more rational explanation, these ‘sightings’ seem to be becoming more frequent. Although one UFO spotter was left red-faced after his report of a mysterious flying saucer in South Wales turned out to be nothing more other-worldly than the moon.
